Charlie-Dailey-About

Charlie was born and educated in Oxfordshire and spent 15 years as a TV camerawoman, working on a number of award winning shows whilst travelling the world between projects, camera in hand.

Always seeking adventure she is inspired by the Wilderness and the more remote parts of our world. Charlie has sailed the Atlantic and travelled extensively through South America, Asia and Africa. She has ridden through the Andies and the Papas Chicas of Argentina; motor biked through Indonesia and travelled the length of the Mekong Delta. Her love of the ocean has taken her to dive with hammerheads on the remote Cocos Island and whale sharks off the wild coast of Mozambique.

While big skies and wild vistas were Charlie’s initial draw to travel and photograph, she developed a love for the diverse people she encountered. Susan S. Blair, Director of book Photography from National Geographic wrote;

‘Your photos are beautifully seen and you seem to have a wonderful rapport with the people you photograph that puts them at ease, which is a huge talent.’

Spending time with the semi nomadic Himba Tribes of Northwest Namibia has been a highlight in Charlie’s career and has led to award winning images; but it has been just as rewarding working in the townships of Africa with MSF and HIV Orphan charities meeting and photographing people that are changing the world around them, day by day.

Closer to home Charlie has exhibitions of her fine art prints and is currently working on a number of commercial projects. These range from back stage at The Royal Ballet, a project commissioned by Boodles, to the bespoke Cifonelli tailors in Paris, lifestyle imagery of Nekker & Mosquito Islands and other beautiful private commissions that take her around the world.
